Valerie

With over 30 years of post-graduate experience, I am dedicated to providing exceptional care to individuals and couples, guiding them through the challenges of personal development, life and love.

Originally from Colorado, I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Colorado State University in 1990 and went on to earn my Master of Science in Family Studies from the University of Kentucky in 1994, having completed the AAMFT clinical program in Marriage and Family Therapy.  While raising children, I returned back to higher education and earned my Rank 1 certification in Guidance and Counseling (K-12) from Eastern Kentucky University.  In 2013, I completed post-graduate clinical training in sex therapy through the Florida Post-Graduate Sex Therapy Training Institute in Palm Beach, Florida, obtaining AASECT certification as a Sex Therapist.  Most recently, I completed an additional 2-year post-graduate Advanced Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy program through the Cincinnati Psychoanalytic Institute. 

I am licensed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the State of Michigan as a Marriage and Family Therapist.  I am certified as a clinical Sex Therapist by the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists and Certified by the Kentucky Court of Justice as a General Civil and as a Family Mediator.  

I am a member of the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT) and a Clinical Member of the American Association of Marital and Family Therapists (AAMFT).  I have published articles featured in MD Update regarding Integrating Sexual Therapy with Sexual Medicine and Sexuality and Aging.
